A Clinical Study on 55 Cases of Pelviscopic Surgery

Abstract
The diagnostic and therapeutic applications of operative pelvscopy are numerous. Pelviscopic surgery has been reported to reduce inpatient hospital time and cost in addition to minimizing tissue damage and bleeding. To evaluate the efficacy of
pelviscopic surgery in gynecologic patients, we reviewed 55 patients treated pelviscopically at Ewha Woman's University Hospital from January, 1994 to February, 1995.
@ES The results were as follows;
@EN 1. Age ranged from 18 to 64 years and the great incidence occurred in 26~30 years group.
2. Major types of surgery were salpingectomy 18/55(32.7%), electrocauterization 11/55(20.0%) and cystectomy 9/55(16.4%).
3. Mean duration of hospitalization was 2.73 days.
4. The most common complication was infection at the puncture site, but in a few patients.
Pelviscopic surgery is safe and has many advantages over an laparotomy. Pelviscopic surgery makes minimal surgical incision, minimal postoperative adhesion, low morbidity rate, short hospitalization, early returning to social activity and
reduction
of
medical cost.
In conclusion, pelviscopic surgery is useful and recommended for the treatment of gynecologic diseases, because it reduces the physical and economic burdens of the patients.
